Dr. Ana Negrete is an International Development Economist interested in following the principle of Theoria cum Praxi or “science for the benefit of society.” Her research centers on industrial strategy and innovation. Specifically, she studies how operating in high or low-income countries influences firm and innovation dynamics, especially among small-scale enterprises. She enjoys teaching Econometrics, Impact Evaluation, and Innovation Economics.

Ana pursued her graduate studies in Germany. In 2017, she obtained her doctoral degree in Economic Sciences at the University of Göttingen and the Think Tank GIGA Hamburg. She is a visiting professor of the Economics Program at the College of Saint Benedict & Saint John’s University in Minnesota. Ana developed professional experience at the United Nations in Geneva, the Mexican Central Bank, and the Global Economic Symposium. From 2019 to 2021, she coordinated the Economics Program at the University of Guanajuato in Mexico.
